MMA fans should take note that HDNet plans to air the DREAM.14 MMA event live to North American viewers on May 29 at 3 a.m. (12 a.m. PST). The card features a lineup that should be more familiar to hardcore MMA fans that follow Japanese MMA.
Even despite the loss of several superstars, DREAM.14 still has MMA fans excited.
The card is headlined by a welterweight clash between Strikeforce Welterweight champion Nick Diaz and Hayato "Mach" Sakurai.
Also on the card:
- Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto vs. Federico "Kiko" Lopez
- Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Ralek Gracie
- Yoshiro Maeda vs. Kenji Osawa
- Joachim Hansen vs. Hiroyuki Takaya
- Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura vs. Hideo Tokoro
- Kazuyuki Miyata vs. Takafumi Otsuka
- Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. TBA
- Katsunori Kikuno vs. TBA
The card was expected to have the likes of Gegard Mousasi, Muhammad "King Mo" Lawal and Renato "Babalu" Sobral -- but the planned light heavyweight grand prix was canceled.
The Diaz vs. Sakurai, Kid vs. Lopez, and Sakuraba vs. Gracie fights are the fights I'm looking forward to most. Kawajiri also is a solid fighter, but I doubt DREAM will be able to find him an adequate opponent on such short notice.
